GEM is hiring a crew leader who leads from the front and takes pride in precision work. This is a hands-on role. You work alongside your crew every day and set the standard on site.
This is not a supervisor-only position. You are expected to work, lead, clean, carry materials, and finish jobs correctly.
SERVICE AREA
We work throughout Monroe County and Wayne County.
Candidates must live within Monroe County or Wayne County.
POSITION OVERVIEW
You will run small crews on kitchen and bathroom remodels. GEM is also expanding into new construction — crews may work on both remodels and new builds depending on the project pipeline.
Crews start with two skilled workers.
You lead the work, manage the details, and keep projects moving.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Run day-to-day job site operations.
Work hands-on in all phases of remodeling and new construction.
Lead by example.
Keep jobs clean, safe, and organized.
Track progress and timelines.
Coordinate materials and tasks.
Take daily photos and notes using your phone.
Complete projects on budget and ahead of schedule when possible.

Finish carpentry
We build kitchens, bathrooms, and are expanding into new construction. You must know how to complete projects from start to finish.
WORK SCHEDULE
Forty hour work week.
Four days per week.
The crew chooses one schedule and keeps it consistent.
Monday through Thursday
or
Tuesday through Friday
PAY
$30–$50 per hour based on skill and experience.
1099 or W-2 options available.
Bonuses paid per job completed on budget and ahead of schedule.

TOOLS
If you want to supply your own tools GEM is not responsible for them. Company tools will not be supplied if you use any of your own tools (no tool allowance).
GEM tools must be accounted for daily and secured every night.
REQUIREMENTS
Must live in Monroe County or Wayne County.
Valid driver’s license.
Smartphone and ability to use it daily.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to read plans.
Ability to take charge without being hand held.
This role is physically demanding. You will be on your feet all day, lifting materials, working in tight spaces, and handling tools in all weather conditions.
GROWTH
Crew leader is a senior role at GEM, but it is not the ceiling. As the company grows, top crew leaders will be considered for project manager positions overseeing multiple crews and projects. We promote from within based on performance, not politics.

Drug testing may be conducted at our discretion. Honesty is key.
You may be subject to a background check. Be open and honest — no surprises. We value honesty over a clean record.

Anyone who does whatever they want on site instead of following the plan.
